Self-Tanning Spray
The tanned look is popular and trendy; people like the brownish glow of their skin as it makes them feel fashionable and self-confident. Sun bathing is less and less advisable because of the number increase of the skin cancer cases, but alternatives have appeared to it. Self tanning spray together with creams, lotions and gels designed for home tanning are widely available. Although technology allows the use of the tanning booth as the most advanced tanning equipment, going to a salon for a refreshening of the tan is not an affordable option for everybody. The DIY solutions thus become the most practical and accessible.
A self tanning spray is a cosmetic product usually containing DHA that can be applied at home as a sunless tanning solution. DHA triggers a chemical reaction with the amino acids in the skin and makes the top skin layer brown. The effect of a self tanning spray ranges between six and eight days if you are careful not to take too long showers and you avoid using too harsh soap. There are lots of challenges to self-tanning, and although you save more money, you'll need more time to apply the tan.
It is more difficult to achieve an even tan when using a self tanning spray. The coloring solution needs to be atomized in a thin film but you should be careful not to overlap too much. Darker tan shades appear because of overlapping. Then, a disadvantage of the self tanning spray is that you may need another person's help for the process: the back for instance is very difficult to spray unless there is someone to assist you. The same problem appears for the back of the legs, the nape and the bottom. Ask a friend to apply the tanner for you: it will make the process a lot simpler.
Be careful to protect the eyes, the lips, the ears and other delicate body parts. Furthermore, do not neglect palm and nail staining because the use of a self tanning spray is often accompanied by such inconveniences. Wipe the nails and the palms with wet wipes before the tanning agent gets dry. Finally, do not spray too much substance because the result may be an unnatural orange glow or an uneven tan. Although very commonly used self tanning spray variants are a lower quality solution as compared to the tanning booth.
